Decorating

Wow, it's been a busy couple of months here at Mammoth Towers.  There's been so much happening that I've hardly felt able to catch up with myself.   I'm going to try to blog each day to try to catch up with what's been going on.  Let's start with the decorating.

Our spare room had many functions: walk-in-wardrobe, gym, office and library.  We felt it needed to have a major oversight corrected.  Like the need for a bed for people to stay over so we set to sorting this this out.  The treadmill was donated to friends (I run outside whatever the weather so it's not like I'll miss it too much).  Ikea wardrobes were hacked, moved and repainted.  The condensation on the external wall had led to a huge load of mould which had to be killed, cleaned, painted with specialist stuff and then have about a million coats of paint.   The walls went from a neutral brown colour to brilliant white.  Carpet was laid; curtains were made (by me).  A day bed was ordered, delivered and built - there may have been swearing, although there was no-one there to witness it.  Lighting was fitted under shelves. But my, all the effort was worth it.  Our spare room is now a haven.

I love sitting in there with podcasts or audiobooks on while I'm knitting.  My favourite podcasters also seem to be as busy as me lately so I haven't felt too bad about not blogging - sometimes life does get in the way.  There has been a positive side to this room being finished: my knitting mojo seems to be back.

I have a number of different projects on the go that are all almost finished; my personal favourite right now is Oscar, a knitted monster, from a book I've already raved about on the blog (Rebecca Danger's "The Big Book of Knitted Monsters").

I was planning to give this to my sister in celebration of a film she worked on winning a Student Oscar.  I am going to find it difficult to hand him over but I know he'll be looked after.

For anyone who may be interested: the film, Miss Todd, is the first time an animated film has won the Foreign Film category and is now due at the ACTUAL Oscars in February. Congratulations to the whole crew! Please do have a look, the visuals are stunning.
